Discerning the Gift

This blog was inspired by a conversation with my God-baby, Victoria. Victoria’s birthday recently passed, and I called her several days before to inquire about what gift(s) she desired for her birthday. She told me a few she had in mind. She said a hoverboard, a motorized scooter and something else that I can’t specifically remember but I know it was motorized, too. I encouraged her to google search the items, text me a picture of her choice, and we’d go from there. She texted me a few days later with this apparatus, and I had no clue what it was. All I knew was, it was on wheels and appeared to be motorized. A woman seated next to me pointed out the necessity of an attachment. So, I called Victoria a few days later and told her the item she chose required an attachment and couldn’t fully function unless it was attached to the proper source. She said she knew what she wanted but chose that particular item because it was the cheapest. Whereas I most certainly appreciated her consideration for my coins, the gift was pointless without the source and foundation.

I later realized Victoria spoke a whole work that truly blessed my soul. I recalled the many times, I’ve been presented with options and went for the tangible, the easiest, the quickest, and the most convenient, etc. versus waiting and discerning God’s best. Such as jobs, relationships, and even financial decisions. Jesus! To later realize that it didn’t fully function because it wasn’t connected to the source - the Father!

I found it astounding how Victoria made reference to the price and choosing the cheapest route. How much do we end up paying when we do things outside of God’s will? Just like I was there to advise Victoria, so is the Holy Spirit who lives in each believer. The Holy Spirit (also referred to as a “gut feeling,” Chile, that’s the Holy Spirit) will nudge us to go in the right direction and keep us on track with God’s will for our lives. The Holy Spirit also gives us strength, guidance, and infinite help.

“Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” James 1:17

God, please grant us, Your Daughters, the wisdom to see Your gifts over all other things. Furthermore, when we pray and make our requests known unto You, let Your will and selection outweigh ours. May we never settle for items that are not attached to You. You are the true vine, and without You, nothing will manifest. Amen!

Thank You, Holy Spirit!!
